Privacy Policy

Last updated June 9, 2026

You Don't Know Ball (“YDKB,” “we,” “us”) is operated by The Banana Standard LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company. This policy explains what we collect when you use udontknowball.com and how we handle it. Short version below.

What we collect

  • An anonymous ID. When you first play, we set a cookie (dd_uid) with a random identifier so we can save your games. No name, email, or password required.
  • A handle. We generate a display name for you (e.g. “Lone Mongoose”), which you can change. It's shown to your opponents.
  • Your email — only if you choose. If you want to save your games across devices, you can sign in with a one-time “magic link.” We then store your email address. We never use or store passwords.
  • Gameplay data. The matches you play — your picks, scores, results, and rating. If you play ranked, your handle, rating, and win–loss record may appear on public leaderboards.
  • Technical data. Your IP address and basic request information, used to prevent abuse and spam and kept in standard server logs. We also use product analytics (PostHog and Vercel Analytics) to understand overall usage — page views and gameplay events tied to a random identifier, with session recording disabled.

Cookies

We use a small set of cookies: an identity cookie (dd_uid) so your games persist, a session cookie if you sign in, and anonymous analytics. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How we use it

  • To run the game and save your progress.
  • To send your sign-in link, if you choose to use email.
  • To keep the game fair — preventing cheating, spam, and abuse.
  • To understand usage and improve YDKB.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the game:

  • Vercel — hosting and analytics
  • Neon — our database
  • Resend — sending sign-in emails
  • Upstash — rate limiting and abuse prevention
  • PostHog — product analytics

Each processes data only to provide its service to us.

Keeping & deleting your data

We keep your data while your identity or account is active. You can ask us to delete it at any time — email privacy@udontknowball.comand we'll remove your account and games. You can also clear your cookies to reset your anonymous identity.

Children

YDKB is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Email us to exercise them.

Security

We use reputable providers and standard safeguards — encryption in transit and no stored passwords. No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; we'll change the date above when we do.
